Oct. 10, (Chennai): Zonal YCS/YSM Training Program on Nature & Environment was held at  Mazhai Malai Madha Shrine Accharapakkam, Chenagalpet from 7- 8th October, 2011

7th October 2011, Friday

The Various dioceses arrived at Malai Mazhai Madha Shrine in the Morning and the Inauguration began around 11am. Father Roch, the Rector of the Shrine was invited as the chief guest for this Programme where Fr.Clement Balaswamy, Fr.Albert, Fr. Amalaropava Raj, Fr. Esthakyus and Sneha Jones the Regional President were also present. A prayer service was organized by the Chennai Diocese and Fr.Clement Balaswamy the Director of Chennai Diocese welcomed the gathering. He in his address said the Thomas Alva Edison in his life time discovery has failed more than 1000times .From this he pointed out that even though he has failed many times he has finally succeeded. He points out that Every Failure is a stepping stone to achieve success. Then Fr.Roch the chief guest gave short but meaningful words which said as Ycs’ers we should all strive to achieve greater heights. Then Fr.Esthakiyus the Regional Head of YCS/YSM gave a gripping message about what you need to do when you’re in this place to learn a lot from Nature and whatever you do when you go back you should have learnt something to tell to all your fellow members in your unit. Fr. Amalarapova Raj the Zonal Director presented the Vote of thanks and went through the Ice Breaking Games and the 1st session was hence begun

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Fr.Arockiadass was invited as the speaker for the day. The Letters of Introductionwas given by Fr.Amalarapova Raj .Fr.Arockiadass gave a brief introduction on Environment .He made the students understand the Need for Environment .He points ut that the Hazards for Ourselves when we don’t protect our environment and went into the Main agent which destroy out Environment i.e.., POLLUTION. Through a powerpoint presentation he made the students understand the different types of pollution  namely Air,Water,Noise and Land pollution the causes with some examples and the Preventions which can be done to control them. The students hence broke out for a break.    In the 2nd Session He talks about the OZONE LAYER. Through many statistics and through video presentations the students understood much more about the ozone layer and the depletion of the Ozone Layer. He points out the various factors which are the main hazards which make the depletion of Ozone layer and the effects it causes for the Present and the coming generation. Some action songs were taught to make the session lively and finally the some volunteer JAM was presented by the students on the awareness which YCS students can give to others to prevent Ozone depletion. Hence the students broke out for Lunch


The students gathered back after lunch and some awareness songs were taught. In the afternoon session the main topic was GLOBAL WARMING. Fr.Arockiadass made the students bring out the Reasons for the Global warming. Through some short clippings made the students aware of what happens to the earth due to global warming. And the state we would be in the coming years .The students were made to realize their value which they have to show towards our mother earth and thus this session was really a very important as it has made an impact on the students to be responsible to save mother earth and build a better society for everyone. Thus in the final session the suggestions to make mother earth was brought out through the sharing of each and everyone. And thus the vote of thanks was presented by Fr.Amalarpova raj thus thanking the speaker and thus the session cane to and end.

The students gathered back after a long break and the group discussions were held. The students were divided into various groups and each group was given a question which was mainly on a Non-Polluted world. The various group secretaries shared their own perspectives in making the world a better place to live. A short Eucharistic celebration was celebrated and then the students broke out for dinner.

The student returned back after dinner, and then a short film was shown which had a greatest significance to avoid Untouchability. Then everyone shared their view on the film on what they had learned from this film. Then a cultural programme was performed by various teams by which all the teams did their best of which whose efforts were much appreciated. Then some games were played which had much laughter and the student enjoyed a lot. Thus the days evaluation was conducted and the days was brought to a conclusion with a small prayer

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


8th October, 2011, Saturday

 

The day was started with the presence of god with a Eucharistic celebration by Fr.Albert the Director of Ooty Diocese. He points out very beautifully that A Ycs’er is a role model for others in protecting the environment and saving our nature. He quotes very beautifully that you are the pillars of tomorrow’s world and the foundations of tomorrow’s earth. The students then gathered for the official photograph and then went for their breakfast

The students gathered back after a break. Fr.Rayappa Kasi, was invited as the speaker for the day. The letters of introduction was given by Arun, Coordinator of Vellore diocese. Fr.Rayappa then began his session with a beautiful video of the origin of the earth. He began explaining about the evolution of the earth with some very interesting theories and made the students to think about the earth. He says very sadly that we are the dangerous hazard to the earth. Due to our physical and physiological needs we at time ruin the earth causing destruction to the earth by cutting down trees. Through a video clip he showed the hazards which our country will face in the near future. The students then broke out for a break

The students gathered back after their break, action songs were taught by Arun. Fr. In his 2nd session touches upon the earth’s crust. He explains this crust through the four systems of the earth’s crust. He shows the destruction which man does to the earth’s crust and by which how much will man get destructed in the near future. He talks about the energy consumption now days which are a greatest destruction to the environment, how man who used just the natural methods due to his wants has changed to many new methods. He then raises about the talk of the most important that is our natural resources. He says that to conserve our natural resources, man need not spend anything but he should spend love for his environment. The students then had a small discussion on how an Ycs’ers is a changing agent to protect our environment and then broke out for lunch

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


The students gathered back after lunch and some video clippings were put based on Global warming. Fr.Rayappa in his final session talks about the evolution of man into the world and how man evolution brought a great change to the whole world. He points out the various evolutions of man and showed through a presentation the formation of man. Then the students gathered for an interesting group discussion on how can you save the earth’s crust being a YCS/YSM student. The various groups shared their point of view and thus the session was coming to a conclusion

 

 

 

 

 

 


Then each student came up voluntarily to thank the speaker who has made this day a day to remember.Fr.Amalarpova Raj proposed the vote of thanks thus thanking everyone who has been a part of this wonderful programme. Special thanks go to Anand, and the other coordinators of various regions who efforts were much appreciated. The programme came to conclusion by singing the YCSYSM Movement song thus marking the end of a perfect beginning!
