Do you remember the movie Titanic? It is still one of the most popular movies of all time. Why? And what is the message that the movie conveys?
The story seems very noble. A young man rescues a girl from abuse and death, then later sacrifies his life so she can survive the disaster. Rose says of her Hero Jack " He saved me in every way a person can be saved". This particular line carries a spiritual message.
A major reason this movie has gripped our hearts is that the story points to a longing all of us have. We want to be loved. We want to be raised above the odds and troubles of this world. We want to be saved in every way a person can be saved!
Only Jesus offers all of that and so much more. His love is with a passion we cannot even begin to understand. He offered his life so that each one of us can be saved. He went to the cross so that we might have real joy. In a time of disaster, let's remember the only true and lasting source of love, rescue and salvation. His name is JESUS!!!
