In most of the poor families the girl child is done away with. They do not allow the child to live and abort it even before its birth. They consider the boy child an asset because they see that child as a consolation to them in their old age. But they are sadly mistaken for today it is only the girl who is caring for her aged parents.

They do not realize the value of the female child whom they had killed at birth for that very child could grow up to be someone important to the family, society and country at large.

These inhuman parents are multiplying in large numbers. Instead of killing these children they would be doing themselves and the child good by allowing the child to grow if not with them at least in an orphanage where they are looked after with love and care.

This reminds me of an incident where the mother of two children a boy and a girl, had given away the girl to her cousin for good. But due to a terrible mishap the male child whom she had died. The mother now being childless went to claim the girl back from her cousin. Though the cousin was willing to see the plight of the mother, yet the girl was not since she was more attached to her foster parents. The mother did not know what to do; she now understood what a terrible mistake she had made and also felt that she would now have to go childless for the rest of her life.
