Groupwise report of exposure program on 18th June 2011 for IYCS Global Formation Session and 14th World Council


New Delhi, June 20:
The 18th of June was designated as exposure day for the participants of the IYCS Global Formation Session and 14th World Council. The participants were divided into 12 groups ,each group was assigned a key leader and the group further had to select the secretary and moderator for the group. Each group started from the venue- St.Michael’s School, Pusa Road at 9:45 am.

Group 1 & Group 11 with Rebecca Nidhi as their key leader respectively went to Deepalaya.  Deepalaya means “the abode of light “. It is an Indian based non profit organisation that supports the development of poor childern. It is the largest operating NGO in the nation. It aims at building a society that’s based on legitimate rights, equality, justice, social sensitivity and a culture in which all people are self reliant.



 

Group 2 with Rashmi Peres as key leader went to Greenpeace, an environmental NGO motivated by the vision of a green and peaceful world. They use non-violent confrontation to raise the level and equality of public opinion. Recently the Greenpeace team pledge to be ‘fools for forest’ in order to stop coal mining and promote a forestation.

Group 3 and 4 headed towards Chetanalaya- ‘the abode of awareness’ with Joyce John and Sr. Shaiji, as key leaders. This organization empowers the underprivileged, marginalized and vulnerable sections of society towards self reliance and human dignity. They render their services for child rights, youth development, anti-trafficking, rural development, etc

Group 5 was taken to Action Aid. This organization has been working with poor and marginalized people in  India since 1972. Their focus is on the rights of India’s most minor communities like the Dalits and indigenous people, urban & rural children & women. Special services are rendered to people with chronic hunger, HIV/AIDS and disability. They also help people who have been trafficked, displaced or struck by natural and man made disasters. This group was led by Sharmila.

Group 6 was taken to Deepti Foundation. This organization is a community care centre – an NGO it’s founded by central government. It also aims at community introducing patients into the society (hence trying to do away with social stigma) and also at the same time educating the society about hazards of this dreaded disease. The target groups are the downtrodden of the society and migrants from other state. This group was headed by Jovita.

 

 

 

 

 


Group 7 was taken to Mother Theresa Home. Debora was the key leader. This is a orphanage service by the missioners of charity .The abandoned children are housed, fed and given medical aid. They also take care of people infected with Leprosy, The delegates were inspired by the missionaries of charity and promised to help at least one needy child.

Group 9 was taken to HLFPPT. This group was headed by Kevin. Hindustan Later Family Promotion Trust, it’s a charitable trust. It is majority based on women empowerment. It gives exposure to women, teaches them art and culture. They encourage women to comes out of their fear, traumas & fight against injustice , inequality , corruption extra they work with motto ‘’Think globally & act locally

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Group 10 was taken to WWF, which is a world wide fund for Nature. It helps India to stop the degradation of plants natural environment. since the forest  are depleting rapidly. The worlds natural areas are severe threat, hence this organization helps in attaining an eco-friendly world. this group had Amrita Rao as their key leader.


Group 12 was taken to Don Bosco Technical School, which was headed by Suzan Topno. Don Bosco technical institute provides job oriented courses for the backward students they even help them get job placements. This institute helps students overcome difficulties by giving them vocational training and they also create skilled workers in the technical field.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


These were organization and NGO’s that our delegates went to. The delegates experienced the conflicts the people face in India and they were also inspired by the sincere service rendered by these organization.
