Profile of Fr. Chetan Machado, Archdiocese of Delhi
Born to Mr. Lawrence & Mary Machado as the 4th child on 8th December 1975 in Shirva, Udupi, Karnataka State. Baptized in Our Lady of Health Church on 15th March 1976. I have two elder brothers and an elder sister (she passed away in 1995). I did my initial schooling in Don Bosco School, Shirva and completed my graduation in St. Mary’s School Shirva.
- After class 12, entered the Juniorate at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore 1993 to 1994.
- Did B-Com in Shirva from 1994-1997
- Went to the Major Seminary, Holy Trinity College, Jalandhar to complete Philosophy from 1997 to 2000.
- Did two years regency. First year in Narnaul School as a teacher and second year at Church of St. Teresa of Child jesus, Pushpvihar.
- Studied Theology in Vidyajyoti, Delhi (B.Th.) from 2002 to 2006.
- Ordained Priest on 2nd May 2006.
- Appointed assistant priest at St. Alphonsa Church, Vasant Kunj 2006 to 2007.
- Appointed Assistant Parish Priest, Sacred Heart Cathedral from 2007 to 2010.
- Appointed YCS/YSM director in 2008 – till date
- Appointed as Editor of the Archdiocesan website in 2009 – till date
- Appointed as editor of Hindi Newsletter ‘Dilli Vaani’ from 2010-2013
- Appointed as Director of Youth Commission , Yuvodaya from 2010- till date
- Appointed as one of the Consultors from 2011-till date
- Appointed as the Secretary of the Regional Youth Commission (RYD) from 2014-till date
- Appointed Head of the dept. of Media (Audio Visual) Production and theatre of the commission for Social Communications from 2014-till date
- Appointed Spiritual Advisor to the NECCOD (North East Catholic Community of Delhi) from 2014-till date.
- Elected member of National Council (ICYM) in 2014
As a student I was part of Catholic Youth Movement in my parish and zonal level. I was president of my parish unit from 1995-1997. Worked also as Secretary prior to this. Was actively involved with NCC (National Cadet Corps) for seven years and have attended over twenty camps during this period.
- Has been conducting Retreats for Religious, Youth and Children.
- Has run formation programmes and camps for the seminarians, youth and children.
- Has been part of Diocesan and Regional Pastoral Council
