Dear friends, we have come to the end of this academic year 2013-2014. The YCS/YSM Montfort Unit has done lots of activities/actions during this academic year. As we had pledged during the XVI National Council to do our best, to do our duty keeping in mind our motto See, Judge, Act and Evaluate in true spirit of human values, respecting each other to work towards building a better world where Truth, Justice and Peace prevails. We the YCS/YSM unit of Montfort School Guwahati tried our best in building up the society by organizing free medical camp. It was one of the actions taken up during this year. The free medical camp was held on 8th February, 2014 in collaboration with Dispur Polyclinic Nursing Home, Guwahati under the leadership of Dr. Nilim Kumar Deka for the people of Mawsmai village at the outskirt of Guwahati. Three doctors, two nurses and three pharmacists were present for the camp. Approximately 150 patients were treated for various ailments. It was successful under the support and guidance of our Principal Bro. S. Maria Soosai.
On 15th November 2014 our unit had visited Ila Snehalaya orphanage Home at Betkuchi, Lokhra .Forty members and Two Animators were there present we started the programme with short prayer service and continue with cultural program. We also share what is YCS/YSM. It was special occasion for them. It was very memorable for us that we can make them feel that they are one among us. After the program we distributed small gifts as well as refreshment for the children. We really appreciate the hard work of the sisters who are taking care of the orphans. We concluded the program with the YCS/YSM Anthem.
We have also done free distribution of study materials for the hearing impaired students in our school.
On 15th January we have visited the victims of Bodo-Adivasi communal violence in the relief camps at Kokrajhar district of Assam and distributed utensils, cloths, foot materials etc.
I thank all the YCS/YSM members of Montfort Unit for this initiative taken to help the poor and the needy. I would appeal to all the young people/stars to take up more and more community oriented actions for the welfare of the poor in the society.
