Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) U.P. & Uttarakhand region organized a two-days Training of the Trainers (TOT) from 27th – 28th November, 2013 at  PGSS Centre, Gorakhpur where 45 Diocesan Youth Directors, Lady Animators, Youth animators and Youth Office bearers from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand  were present.

The inauguration of the TOT commenced by invoking God’s blessings and by lighting of the lamp.  Rev. Fr. Rajesh P. DYD of Gorakhpur formally welcomed the dignitaries and the youth delegates from the region. The host bishop, Mar Thomas T. CST, welcoming the august gathering said “You have been called by Jesus to train the youth in right direction.”

Fr. Archibald D’Silva the Regional Youth Director Challenged the Youth and said, “You all are out of millions of in U.P.   and the chosen one’s. Therefore it is your duty and responsibility to move from the youth activity to youth ministry in their parishes and dioceses.

The resource person, Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes, National Chaplain for YCS/YSM, trained the participants to become ‘Enlightened Youth Leaders for the Church of North India’. He cited apt examples, used games, action songs and group discussion to elicit initiative from the youth. He also encouraged to start YCS /YSM movements in the region. 

The culmination of the TOTwas  100th Regional Youth Council Meeting (REXCO) and election of New Office bearers for the year 2013-2015. This REXCO was chaired by Most Rev. Oswald Lewis, the Chairman of Youth Commission of U.P. Region.  Rev. Sr. Lissy CJ the Regional Youth Lady Animator thanked the outgoing office bearers for their selfless service. 

The new Office Bearers for the year 2013-2015 are:

Vice President: Agnes Peter (Allahabad Diocese)
Secretary: Agnes McCurtis  (Agra Diocese)
Representative - Male : Vivek Stephen  (Agra Diocese)
Representative – Female: Olivia Denis Flaming (Varanasi Diocese)
