Suzan Munurose Topno was the former National Convener of YCS/YSM India, having been elected to the post since 2007. The movement is very much proud to have such a Convener and wish her for her future.

I feel really proud and privileged to be a part of an international movement like YCS. It is one of the things for which I thank God from my heart. Living with the movement from the past six years has taken me to various places, taught me many things and helped me to know myself as a new person every time. It has given me self-confidence, experience, and knowledge. It has revealed to me the value of being a ‘youth’, and the power one has as a youngster.

It was indeed a pleasure to work with so many like-minded leaders from all over the country. To be able to think for the least, to introspect what is the purpose of my life. Many a times we tend to forget our duties and responsibilities towards the poor, deprived and unaided. Mother Teresa quotes Jesus “What you do to the least of my people you did it to me”. He expects the same from each one of us.

The methodology of the “Review of Life” followed by our movement is a very beautiful way of living. To be able to ‘SEE’ that is to become aware of the situation around us, to be able to ‘JUDGE’ that is to reflect on those situations the problem the usefulness and the harmfulness, and to ‘ACT’ that is to be able to take action according to the situation, to react. It has now become a natural way of thinking for me as well as the other leaders of our team. It undoubtedly has influenced each of our lives and left a very deep impact.

Dear young friends in today’s world where corruption, terrorism, exploitation is taking its toll.  We as young leaders need to be able to react to the situations around us, and be agents of change and peace. YOU can bring a change and make a difference, look around you with all your senses, select situations which affect society and get them down to your cell meetings. Discuss the topic reflect over it, take examples from the Bible, talk to your animators and act accordingly. Make your life worthy and someone else’s worth living.

Youth are dynamic, energetic and very much reactive. However we must make sure that all this happens in the right direction and for the right cause. This is where the role of a good Animator and Chaplain plays a very significant role. It is true that YCS/YSM India is a movement of the students, for the students and by the students. We need guidance and care. As a teenager grows up a question that he/she often ask themselves is “Who am I to this world? What is my Identity?” Many a times we don’t get an answer to that. However a good animator can help them to figure it out. Wrong guidance and lack of attention can actually cause a deficit to the future of the world. Since these young people are the future.

We need your support and love!

We need people to guide us, to teach us and to love us and make us perfect. We need proper care. It is up to you to take this challenge and make a difference. As young bloods we only need a little attention from you, I hope that we get it and we get it on time.

I wish Fr. Charles Menezes, the new team of Nexco’s and all the Regional Chaplains all the very best with the movement, all our prayers and love are with you.

“You cannot discover the purpose of life by asking someone else – the only way you’ll ever get the right answer is by asking yourself.” - Terri Guillemets.
