The Parents of Rani, Matthew and George received a letter from their aunt stating that she would spend a week or two at their house for a change. On receiving the news the parents were not happy to receive and expressed their displeasure. But when she actually came the parents pretended as if they were happy to receive her. The children were bewildered at the behavior of their parents and their hypocritical attitude. They were totally confused and detested their double faced behavior.
This was a role play enacted by the students of Bangalore during the National Meet in Chennai in the year 1989 and this had a great impact on my life.
YCS/YSM is a formative Movement where the students are enabled & encouraged to think critically and are geared towards values. They are motivated to take up effective actions for the growth and betterment of oneself, others and to the society.
In order to make our values an integral part of our life, periodical meetings, seminars, camps at various levels- cell, unit, diocesan, regional and national are conducted for the students and animators in the Movement. I hope many others like me to will have cherished memories to narrate. I wish and hope that the YCS/YSMers make the best use of this educative Movement reflecting its values all through their life.
It was a turning point as I reflected on the play which has still today taught me a great lesson to be true to myself and to others at all circumstances. In the Bible we see that Christ who loved sinners, condemned the Pharisees because of their hypocritical behavior. Well the truth will make us free.
Truth is to be real as we are at all times, to speak out what we feel about others, than to speak at the back. This is the real attitude we all need to possess. In my being authentic in my thoughts, words and deeds my heart raises in gratitude to the YCS/YSM who taught ‘’me’’ to be ‘’me’’
