The world has made tremendous progress in every field. A lot of inventions have taken place. In 1962 J. L Baird invented television – a wonder which you can watch from the comfort or your own home.

Television is one of the most important inventions of science. It has brought about a revolution in the field of entertainment, education and communication. One can know watch moving, talking and living pictures on a screen while sitting in one’s home.

Television bring to our homes sights and sounds from all over the world. We can virtually see the events as they are happening by means of live TV relays. TV programmes provide education as well as entertainment. In developing countries television is used for educational programmes, literacy campaigns and promotion of health. Learning through television mere effective and enriching. Television programmes are more enjoyable and interesting. Through television we learn about the lifestyles of our brothers and sisters in other states.

Television also has certain disadvantages. People sit for hours watching television and neglect their duties. In fact viewers are fast becoming couch potatoes. Families no longer sit together and talk at the end of the day. Non pray together or share their meals. Only because of television. Some channels show adult movies which have a very bad effect on the minds of young children. And soon become adults.

So at the end of all is television – a boon or a bane? I leave it to you dear readers.
